Gov. Doug Burgum today announced Hettinger is being recognized with the 2019 Main Street Vibrancy Award for the Helping Hettinger initiative.
The 2019 Main Street Awards honor communities that show excellence in elevating the three pillars of the Main Street Initiative: healthy, vibrant communities; smart efficient infrastructure; and 21st century workforce.
“Hettinger has gone above and beyond to differentiate the community and improve the quality of life for the benefit of current residents and to help attract new residents,” Burgum said. “With deepest gratitude, we recognize Hettinger with this award for dedication and efforts to enhance its vibrant community.”
Consisting of 150 participants, and with the completion of more than 15 projects, Helping Hettinger Day promoted community service and volunteer recognition and empowered local leaders to make a difference.
The Main Street Vibrancy Award recognizes communities that have activated space by investing in shared public space, cultural experiences and/or community events which draw residents and visitors.
The Main Street Awards are a collaborative effort of the Office of the Governor, the North Dakota Department of Commerce and North Dakota State University Extension. A selection committee made up of agencies and partners judged the entries to make final awards.
